The fields on “Today's report” come from your company's template. This article covers what the ten common fields record and how each is filled in. Only fields in your template appear on the entry screen.

What you can do

Fields keep information in a shape you can count, which free text cannot. Numbers flow into the rollups, photos keep their capture time, and the time clock works out hours. Admins and managers set the field order and which are required, in the template editor.

Reading the screen

  • “Text” — a free writing box, possibly with an example or a character limit.
  • “Choice” — pick from prepared options, one or many.
  • “Checklist” — tick off inspection items.
  • “Numbers” — a number-only keypad opens under the box. Press “Next” for the next box and “Done” on the last one. Each field has its own unit.
  • “Auto calculation” — totals, differences, products or ratios from other “Numbers” fields. It shows “Calculated automatically from the referenced fields” and takes no typing.
  • “Line items” — rows you add as you go, such as visits or deliveries. Press “+ Add a row”. Number columns are totalled.
  • “Rating” — a star or slider rating in one press. Pressing the same star again returns it to “Not rated”.
  • “Photos” — press “Add photo” to take one or attach from your library.
  • “File attachments” — attach video, spreadsheet or PDF files. Stored privately; only members with permission can download them.
  • “Time clock” — press “Now” to stamp start and end times. See Clock in and out.

FAQ

  • Can fields be added or removed? — Admins and managers can, following Add and edit template fields. Changes apply from the next entry.
  • Why do some fields not copy from yesterday? — Photos, files, time clock, line items, ratings and auto calculations are that day's facts.
  • Which fields feed the rollups? — “Numbers”, hours from “Time clock”, and number columns in “Line items”. An “Auto calculation” result stays in the report but is left out of the rollups and the CSV.
  • How do I know which fields are required? — Press “Submit” with one empty; the screen scrolls to it.
