A report written in another language has no translation
This article covers what to check and how to fix a report written in someone's own language that has no Japanese translation, or shows an error. Meanwhile the original text is still readable on “Feed”.
Check first
- Whether your company has the multilingual add-on switched on. Without it, reports are treated as Japanese and no translation is made.
- Whether the writer's report language is something other than Japanese. Reports written in Japanese get no translation.
- Whether the report card shows either “Generate translation” or “Show original”.
- Whether you have reopened “Feed” for the latest state. Translations are made after submission.
How to fix
Step 1: Generate the translation
Open the report on “Feed” and press “Generate translation”. You are done when “Translating…” finishes and the Japanese text appears with the note “Automatically translated by AI (assistive). If anything differs, the original text prevails. The original is always available.”
Important: The translation is assistive and made by AI. Always review it, and where translation and original differ, the original is the correct record.
Step 2: Generate again after a failure
“Translation failed. Please try again.” means the report itself is untouched. Press “Generate translation” once more. You are done when the Japanese text appears.
Step 3: Read the original as it is
While no translation exists, the card still shows the original text. On a translated report, press “Show original” to read it, and “Show translation” to go back.
Still not working?
- Message shown: “Translation failed. Please try again.” — Cause: AI processing failed — Fix: wait a moment and press “Generate translation” again.
- No “Generate translation” button at all — Cause: the add-on is off, the report is in Japanese, or AI is not enabled for your environment — Fix: see Enable the multilingual and AI reply suggestion add-ons, or ask support if AI itself is off.
- If no translation appears however often you press, open “Support” at the bottom right and use “How-to question” or “Report a bug” with the report date and author.
